N-BACK

Privacy policy

Effective date: 24 September 2026

N-Back is an Android visual memory exercise app developed by Vivek Maswadkar (lumensparkxy). This policy covers the app with package name com.maswadkar.nback and this website.

Your exercise settings and saved results stay on your device. You do not need an account. Versions with advertising enabled use Google AdMob and Google's privacy services, which process data separately from your exercise history.

Information stored on your device

The app stores your chosen difficulty, exercise types and pace; completed normal-session results, dates and per-turn accuracy data; and local counters used to limit how often ads can appear. Google’s privacy service may also store privacy state on the device.

We do not operate an app backend or cloud history service. The app does not send your scores, exercise stimuli, saved history, run identifiers or response timing to us or to Google for ad targeting or analytics. We do not add a separate product analytics service. Practice and unfinished sessions are not added to saved history.

Advertising and Google services

When advertising is enabled, N-Back uses Google AdMob and the User Messaging Platform to check privacy eligibility and provide occasional full-screen ads after a completed normal exercise, when you choose Home. Exercises and saved history remain available offline and when an ad cannot be served.

Google’s advertising SDK can process your IP address (including approximate location inferred from it), app/ad interactions, performance diagnostics and device or account-related identifiers for advertising, measurement and fraud prevention. The exact data depends on device support, SDK settings and privacy eligibility. Non-personalized ads still involve data processing. Google describes this in its Mobile Ads data disclosure and Privacy Policy.

We request non-personalized ads, apply conservative under-age-of-consent treatment to everyone and limit requested ad content to PG. We do not ask for your age or date of birth. The app removes the Android advertising-ID permission and Android AdServices permissions. These restrictions do not mean that Google receives no technical data. Google's SDK encrypts its data in transit using TLS.

Ads are requested only when Google's privacy service permits them. On Home, open Privacy to read the notice and access ad privacy options when Google requires them. A consent form may not appear under this conservative age treatment. Ad availability also depends on your app version, connection and Google's services. Development/test builds can use test ads; production advertising may be disabled.

Teen users

N-Back is intended for teens and adults aged 13 and older, not children under 13. We use the same conservative advertising treatment for all users rather than collecting birthdates. If you believe a child has sent personal information to us, contact us so we can address it.

Retention and deletion

Local exercise history remains on your device until you clear it in the app or remove the app's stored data. Clear history removes saved results; it does not reset settings or ad-frequency counters. To remove all app-held local data, use Android Settings to clear N-Back's storage or uninstall the app. N-Back disables Android automatic app backup. We cannot retrieve or delete your on-device history remotely.

Clearing local data does not delete data Google has already received. Google's retention and deletion practices are described in its data retention policy; applicable controls and requests are available through Google's privacy services.

Contact and your privacy choices

If you email us, we receive your address and the information you choose to send. We use it to respond to your request and retain correspondence only as needed to handle it and meet applicable obligations. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information or exercise history unless it is needed for your request.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information, or restrict or object to its processing. Contact maswadkar@gmail.com about information you send to us or questions about this policy. For data handled by Google, use the controls and contact options in Google's Privacy Policy. You may also contact your local data protection authority.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when the app's data practices change and revise the effective date. Material changes will be communicated through the app or its distribution listing as appropriate.
